Art History Illustrated, Ancient Propaganda: Art that Made Men into Gods

How did ancient Mesopotamian, Egyptian, and Roman rulers use the media to convince their people that they were divine? Were ancient people just easier to fool than we are? Take a look inside the visual campaigns of important kings and emperors, like Naram-Sin of Akkad, Pharaoh Hatshepsut, Alexander the Great, and Caesar Augustus, with art historian Brenda Edgar, to see how they were able to get their subjects to believe that they were gods on earth. This program is intended for adults.
Join us for our “Art History Illustrated” talk series, held the third Thursday of every month at 5:30 p.m. This monthly illustrated talk series is presented by art historian Brenda Edgar, in collaboration with The Floyd County Carnegie Library Cultural Arts Center.
